BTS have always been known for their meaningful lyrics. Following the release of their latest album, Arirang, the group had a hidden song in the deluxe vinyl cover of Arirang, Come Over. While the song was not out on streaming platforms then, the fans who had the deluxe version of the album wasted no time in sharing the song with the world. The song, produced by BTS member Suga, wasted no time in capturing fans’ heart.
The group performed Come Over in the concerts, and the song got recognition for its lyrics. The song captured the band’s honest feelings as they were preparing to reunite with their fans after their military service. It expresses their fear of wondering whether they will still be accepted and loved as they are wandering and knocking on the fans’ door again. The line, “Yeah, I am lost, can I come over?”, symbolises as a request for love and comfort.
Fan theories suggest this song to be a sequel to their song Magic Shop. Magic Shop, a masterpiece of a song released in 2018, is about BTS creating a safe space for the fans, while fans think of Come Over as BTS asking to return to that safe space.
BTS released Come Over as a single today, 12th of June, as a gift for Armys for their 13th anniversary. While it has only been 3 hours from the release, X is already trending with phrases such as “COME OVER OUT NOW” and “BTS IS BACK”. The said boy band has already broken the internet as their single has already gained over 2 million mentions on all digital platforms all over the world.
